I remember a story my dad enjoyed telling about two brothers:
The first – a pessimist – received an expensive watch for Christmas. He groaned and complained that the watch would probably not work well and was likely to break soon, anyway.
His brother – an optimist – received a bale of hay. He expressed with delight, “There must be a horse around here somewhere.”
Even though this illustration isn’t very realistic, it demonstrates a point. We can look for the negative or the positive aspects of every situation. Try to find the positive side of your circumstances – the silver lining in every cloud. You will find the more you practice, the easier it becomes.
